Imagine handing a child a book and watching as he explores the pages with the SD•X pen. He'll find stories read aloud, games for fun, games for learning, music, sound effects, the voices of his favorite characters, and more. And the entertainment possibilities of SD•X don't end there. SD•X can also play classic board games in new ways, let a movie poster tell about the next blockbuster, or have a concert poster play the hits.
In partnership with Disney, Publications International launched six SD•X enabled Poingo storybooks in summer 2008: Cars, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Winnie the Pooh. These familiar stories come to life as they are read aloud. Highlighted words offer a definition. Illustrations play reading comprehension games, music, Look and Find, board games, and many other activities.
Poingo books aren't just for little kids. With the SD•X pen, entire songs can be programmed to stream off the page. Along with listening to their favorite tunes, tweens can play games specially designed for their age-range and listen to stories about their favorite artists and recording stars. Publications International will launch the first Disney Channel SD•X enabled books in late 2009, including Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and Camp Rock.
The rules of the game are about to change. Now different variations of games can be played on the same game board. By touching either a game piece or a player's square on the board, players know how to move. Also, when the board is fully enabled, it counts squares, knows where players are located, and even keeps score.
